Encouraging Prayer

Here are some thoughts on encouraging a church to pray.  This recognises that many Christians will want to pray, and many will do so, but that life of a church will need careful nurture and development if it is to grow into a healthy prayer-based community life.

• A prayer strategy  develops plans to increase the prayerfulness of the church.
• As a church seeks God's calling and vision, it is vital that there is prayer for the  vision process.
• Prayer groups, and home groups play a key role in encouraging Christians to pray together.
• Encourage people to lead intercessions in church.
• If churches have prayer ministry teams,   it is probably appropriate to provide some guidelines. An example is offered as a base for development.
• Teaching children to pray is important, here are thoughts on helping Christian parents to do this at home, or for leaders of children's groups to do this in their groups.
• Prayerwalking brings the power of prayer out onto the streets of our communities.
